I am currently in the final stages of completing my PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Microbiology at the University of South Australia, where my research focused on characterizing resistance factors in Chryseobacterium indologenes and Klebsiella oxytoca from healthcare environments and hospital wastewater. During my PhD, I identified a conjugative hybrid plasmid in an extensively drug-resistant K. oxytoca and characterized a novel metallo-β-lactamase (CIM-1), which is the second identified membrane-tethered metallo-β-lactamase.
